THE BEST WAY TO DISCOVER THE FRANSCHHOEK VALLEY

Exceptional wine tour, a great day in Franschhoek This was a fab experience, our group was quite large but this didn't impact our experience. Roger was a great guide, on our tour we visited La Bri Wine Estate, Rickety Bridge Winery and Mont Rochelle. We tasted a wide range of wines, at our first stop La Bri we were welcomed with a glass of wine on arrival and had the wine-making process explained by the wine maker herself, we then moved on to tasting a further 5 wines which were explained in details by a very passionate staff member. Before leaving we were presented with a final surprise exclusive wine to taste. Our second next stop was the Rickety Bridge winery where we tasted 2 white wines, 2 red wines and 1 dessert wine followed by a wonderful lunch paired with wines. Our final stop was Mont Rochelle and had a wine and chocolate pairing. All the staff at all three vineyards and the main tram stations were friendly and welcoming. This was a fabulous day and would recommend it to anyone. We are so happy we visited Franschhoek as part of our honeymoon.

A must if you are in Franschhoek We would defiantly recommend the Exceptional Wine & Cuisine Experience. We were a group of 9 people who booked on the same cold and wet day in September. We visited 3 wineries throughout the day with delicious canapés and wine pairing breakfast at Boschenda, lunch at the Bacco wine estate where we had a delicious lunch with pairing wines prepared by the very talented Steff Hoefnagels. This was followed by a tour of the estate before we moved onto Babylonstoren for desert and a very quick look around an interesting museum. This was our least favourite winery because unlike the other two estates, the wines had been poured into each glass and along with the pairing deserts (they looked like they had been prepared that morning), they were on the table before we even sat down. This was certainly below the standard we had experienced at the other two wineries but it did not spoil our experience. We would like to say how brilliant the wine tram staff were throughout the day who kept us entertained and on time! We would defiantly do this trip again.

Great Day but Plan Ahead The wine tram is a great way to taste Franschhoek wines. But do some homework before you go. The available wines are determined by the day and color of the line. You'll want to know where you'd like to visit to maximize your time. Done right you can easily taste at five wineries. And you're not driving so why not. It sort of works like this. You board a tram that goes back and forth on a straight stretch of track. The track stops at some wineries but the rest are accessed via buses that meet the train. Everything is well timed, including tram/bus stops and pick ups. This is where the planning comes in. Know what lines are running on the day you're touring and which of the winery options you'd like to visit. We opted for Boschendal (a longer bus ride to get to but a huge estate), Solms Delta (very small), Alle Bleu, (beautiful grounds), Bartinney, (our favorite with gin tasting), and Zorgvliet.

Amamos a região Fomos com o city sightseeing até a estação do Tram em Franschhoek. Foi uma experiência maravilhosa, as paisagens são lindas, ótimas vinícolas e degustações, a comida também foi muito boa. Vale o passeio. Como compramos pelo city sightseeing só tínhamos uma opção de linha (navy), comprando direto pelo site do Wine Tram existem mais opções o de linha, que passam por mais vinícolas.

Wine Tram war hervorragend. Alle sind betrunken, aber es war ein Riesenspaß. Das ist ein MUST DO in Frankschhoek. Alle sind hinterher betüpfelt, aber es. Ist ein Riesenspaß. Unser Host in Zug und Tram war Fenamel und er war sehr sachkundig, nett und lebensfroh.

Good fun This was well worth doing, as a fun way to trundle round the area. Go to the upstairs part of the tram for open air views from the front and rear. All very well organised with clear instructions as to when you can be picked up again. Easy to hand over your wine to the driver and collect it at the ticket office at the end. We did 3 vineyards on the orange route: Bablyonstoren, Plaisir and Boschendal, and were pleased we hadn’t tried to do more.

Exceptional wine tour The exceptional wine tour was great, 3 vineyards and pairing menus with wine. We ate some fantastic food which was paired with fantastic wine. Simon our guide made it a great day and we were with a great bunch of people so had many laughs. Only negative is that at each vineyard we placed an order which we were told would be collaborated together at the end of the tour and sent as one package. We received just one email from the last vineyard, nothing from the first 2, so obviously they had not been joined together and appear to be lost. Shame as the wine was fantastic and we were so looking forward to trying it again.
