Explore the Glorious Franschhoek Valley
There are many spectacular places to visit in South Africa, each if which has its own unique attributes and attractions. For visitors to the Western Cape we recommend you take a trip to the wonderful Franschhoek Valley, a place of great beauty, fascinating history and – perhaps best of all – where the finest of South Africa’s magnificent wines are made. The Wine Tram experience is one that can be enjoyed at your own pace, as we take you on a tour through the beautiful valley, among some of the oldest wine estates in the country.
You travel in open sided tram or tram-bus on one of four looped routes, each of which stops at may points so you can hop off and on at will. The commentary on board will inform of you of the history of wine-making in the valley, which begun more the 300 years ago thanks to French settlers, and each adult ticket comes with a chance to enjoy complimentary wine tasting at two of the many estates along the route. You can also take a cellar tour in one of the major estates or the boutique wine makers along the route, something that wine lovers will enjoy very much.
The Franschhoek Valley wine tour is a wonderful way to enjoy and explore this fabulous part of the country, and many of the estates also have excellent restaurants where you can enjoy fine dining and – of course – wine, or you can simply take a walk through the gorgeous vineyards, and take in the wonderful weather that the region is famous for. Why not check out the options available on the Franschhoek Valley Wine Tram experience; we can even arrange transfers for you from Cape Town, and accommodation should you wish to spend a few days in this spectacular place.
