FARM SANCTUARY SA loves, rescues and celebrates farm animals! Top of the pecking order was Pigcasso, the most accomplished animal artist in history. The divine swine was no stranger to hogging the lime lite. From the Guiness Book of Records, to collaborating with corporate giants and making headlines around the world, Pigcasso raised millions for the sustainability of the sanctuary. Pigcasso was rescued in 2016 by Farm Sanctuary SA's founder and director, Joanne Lefson. When she noticed that the pig showed an interest in some old brushes that were laying in her sty. It didn't take long before, well, the pig was painting and making headlines around the globe. From CNN to BBC Headline News, Pigcasso’s journey from rescued ‘pork chop’ to celebrated international art sensation captured the World’s imaginations. In 2021, Pigcasso made international headlines when she sold ‘WILD AND FREE’ for 20 000GBP. This sale was an official world record for the highest-selling artwork ever painted by an animal. Pigcasso also designed the 2019 SWATCH watch which sold out globally within hours. Notable collectors include Rafa Nadal, Dr Jane Goodall and George Clooney. Pigcasso may have passed away in 2024, but you can still view her art - and even meet BAANKSY, the painting sheep who learnt to paint by watching Pigcasso when he was just a little lamb.
