The Franschhoek Wine Tram brings the history of 300 year old vineyards to life perfectly

You can expect a warm welcome from the Franschhoek Wine Tram team as they introduce you to a unique adventure in their very original open-air tram, taking you back 300 years in history to when the first French Huguenot families settled in this picturesque valley, continuing an age old tradition of wine making which has been passed down from generation to generation in the intervening years.

The award winning, internationally acclaimed wines from the Franschhoek Valley are testament to the sheer determination of these French settlers to claim back as much of their heritage as possible in a strange land far away from their home, which is clear in the names of farms that still stand today, names chosen to represent the areas in France they were forced to flee.

Another of the great ideas the Franschhoek Wine Tram team thought of was to create four different routes which would allow visitors to choose which of the routes would take them to farms they would really like to visit as they roll through the vineyards in the Franschhoek Wine Tram.  World class wines and outstanding gourmet food is a given, no matter which Franschhoek Wine Tram route you choose, but if you would like to go the whole hog, make sure you take a trip on all four lines for good measure!

The hop-on hop-off Franschhoek Wine Tram experience will take you on a journey of stopping off at several wine estates along the line you have chosen, and if you would like to have a picnic among the vineyards or have lunch at the estate restaurant you will need to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance to avoid disappointment, the Franschhoek Wine Tram crew want you to have the experience of a lifetime, but not on a grumbling tummy!

Visit the Franschhoek Wine Tram website, explore a little more about the experience, the wine farms to visit, decide on where you would like to stop for lunch and call the team to make your booking!
