Hop-on Hop-off Experience

Our most popular option, the Hop-on Hop-off Experience, allows you to do just that – hop on and off as you like, experiencing the different activities on offer, be it wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or just a stroll through the vineyards. And when you’re ready, simply hop-on to continue your journey.

Wine Estate - Wine Tasting - Wine Farm Franschhoek

Take your pick between 5 different lines, each visiting a selection of wine estates showcasing a separate part of the Franschhoek Valley.

The Hop-on Hop-off experience allows you to curate and plan your own day. You get to choose how long you spend at each spot (within the line schedule, of course), where you eat, where you drink, and the activities you partake in.

Your experience begins at either the Franschhoek Terminal or the Groot Drakenstein Terminal (depending on the line), where you can grab a coffee, beignet and browse our merchandise while waiting for your journey to start.

From the terminals, you will be transported around your selected line’s loop of stops on a combination of double-decker tram and open-air tram-bus, allowing you to disembark when you like.

Before the Day

PICKING A LINE Before choosing a line, read about the estates and the activities they offer. Consult the timetable of the line you wish to travel on, and plan your day around this timetable. Keep in mind that you would not be able to visit all the estates on each line. Remember that not all wine estates are located next to the railway tracks – we make use of an open-sided bus to travel to these estates.

BOOKING YOUR TICKETS Book your tickets in advance, especially if you want to travel on a specific line and depart at a specific time. You can book online right here.

BOOKING YOUR DINING Planning on having lunch or a picnic at an estate? Phone the estate and book in advance. Some restaurants might be closed on the day of your tour. Click here for a list of restaurants with contact details.

BOOKING YOUR TRANSFER To avoid having to driving home after your tour, include a transfer with your booking and make sure that you include your address for your private chauffeur pick-up.
