Solms Delta

Description: At Solms-Delta we celebrate what it means to be South African. The food, the people, the music and, of course, the wine, telling the stories of where we come from and sharing ownership and profits equally with our workers, we bring a sense of pride, belonging and ownership to those who have, for generations, called our historic farm home.

Dining: At the Fyndraai Restaurant, we share the warmth of the Cape in abundance: hospitality, generosity and really, really good food. Food that’s unpretentious, proudly local and just as adventurous as our wines. Our head chef explores the diverse culinary history of the Cape, which unites European, Asian and African ingredients, and reimagines them for contemporary tastes. The Fyndraai Restaurant housed inside the farm’s excavated historical cellar is part of a larger conservation project on the farm called the Dik Delta Fynbos Culinary Garden.

Plaisir de Merle

Description: Plaisir de Merle was established in 1693. For more than 300 years, Plaisir de Merle has been making French-inspired wines in Simondium, between Franschhoek and Paarl. It was one of the first farms to start cultivating vines in the area and has been excelling at it through the keen interest and hard labour of many generations of committed guardians. The Griffin, a mythological creature and symbol of Plaisir de Merle represents the foresight and bravery of these men and women and remains a guide for those to come. Today, the farm encapsulates two of the original Drakenstein farms, making it not only one of the oldest but one of the largest in the area, spanning over 1000ha, with 350ha planted to vine. The wine is an ode to France and is made with only the noblest of grapes. Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. Defiantly French in the heart of Simondium.
