Le Pommier meaning 'The Apple Tree' in French was once an apple orchard, it was a part of the 300-year-old Zorgvliet farm before. Today you will still find a couple of these apple trees – scattered on Le Pommier. In 1692 Casper Wilders, Austrian mercenary soldier serving in the Dutch East India Company was granted the Zorgvliet farm. This is where the story began for Le Pommier. The history of Le Pommier includes a lengthy list of owners since the 1600s. The Restaurant was an animal shed in 1916 a type of storeroom for animal food, and a chicken run. The guesthouse, now Le Pommier's Country rooms was the farm's homestead. Le Pommier Lodge consists of six suites, seven country rooms and two self-catering units. The first business here was a coffee shop known as "Die Banhoek Kombuis".

In 1986 André Grobler, the owner of Le Pommier and Glen Arum, built accommodation for the workers, next to the dam, today the Le Pommier Suites are situated here. Le Pommier's family self-catering unit was home to about six families, and known as the "drie deur huis". The building was originally on the farm when André bought it from Dr Piet le Grange. While under the ownership of Dr Piet Le Grange it was a pig farm and known as Yew Tree. In 2005 it was converted into guest accommodation with a private splash pool and braai facilities overlooking the dam and mountains. A wedding, conference and function venue was added in 2019 and true to Le Pommier's style and brand, this was done to resemble a farmyard barn. The venue has 90 degrees glass panels and sliding doors maximising on the stunning view of the Simonsberg mountains. 2 additional hectares of Malbec and Cabernet Franc vineyards was planted in the surrounding areas of the new venue in 2020.

Danish Feta, caramelized onions and olives (the SAUVY) with Sauvignon Blanc add a refreshing element of tart acidity so your mouth is continually refreshed in between bites. Rosé strawberry, fresh herbs and gooseberry aromas with a tangy barbeque chicken & feta pizza (the SIMONSBERGER). Pepperoni has a strong and spicy flavour, demanding a full-bodied red wine to contend with, like the Le Pommier Cabernet Franc/Malbec blend paired with the boerewors, pepperoni & bacon pizza (the MENEER).

Traditional Chicken Pie pairs perfectly with our Le Pommier Sauvignon Blanc. The Sauvignon Blanc 2022 received a gold award at the Ultra Value Wine Awards. The crispness of the Sauvignon Blanc refreshes and cleanses the palate, preparing it for another burst of flavour. A South African Favourite Bobotie with Le Pommier Maraai Rosé. This dry Rosé with its tropical fruit flavours complements the bobotie. Beef Oxtail pate with MAC Cabernet Franc/Malbec Blend. The dark fruit and earthy flavours of the Malbec and Cabernet Franc perfectly complement the beef oxtail.
