The best - don’t miss out on doing the tram! The best days! This is such an amazing way to explore some of the wineries. We did the red line on one day (for lunch and sunset wineries) and the blue line the next day for the whole day. From start to finish, this was by far one of our best days in South Africa. The team are great, the wineries are superb and the only problem was our sore heads the next day!! Spectacular scenery along the route and they will even take care of any purchases you make so you don’t have to carry it round all day. Don’t miss this fabulous tour, so much fun!

One of the best tourist activities you will ever do! This was our second time doing the wine tram, we went out of our way on our holiday to South Africa to do the wine tram again as it is just such an amazing experience. We were once again blown away and loved it! We did the blue line (the routes have changed since we last did it) but it was a great line to do with particular highlights being Rickety Bridge and Mont Rochelle. Everything is always very organised and runs super smoothly and the costs of wine tastings are all very reasonable. If you do only one thing whilst in South Africa it has to be the wine tram!

What a day!!! We took a day trip from Cape Town to spend the day traveling the pink line - it was AWESOME! We booked the driver through the tram service and he was timely arriving at our hotel just as we were informed. No matter the line, you will ride both the tram and the bus, we started with the bus. The wineries we hit were Pigcaso, Rickety Bridge, Grande Provence, Franschhoek Cellar and Leopards Leap - yes, 5 wineries (with kids in tow!). I will write separate reviews on the wineries, but the tram/bus was well organized and made spending the day across the wineries SO easy! Other wine regions should take note of this set-up!!! What a day!!!

Superb way to spend a day My partner and I took the red line, starting on the bus with a visit to La Lude, starting the day with a sparkling wine tasting (it was 10.30am… too early for me to start on the red wine!). We then went to Eikehof, which was such a contrast to La Lude - so quaint and country chic - and had the wine tasting with a cheese plate. So good! Then Lynx, which was tied with Eikehof for our favourite stop of the day (I wish we’d stayed longer here - Francis, who did our wine tasting was brilliant), before ending at Grand Provence which, while very pretty and with some striking sculpture, wasn’t my favourite. The only place we wanted to visit but didn’t was Haute Cabriere, because their restaurant was fully booked by the time I checked (3 days before our trip). We were really impressed with the staff and the organisation of the wine tram and bus, and with how well set up the estates are for the various drop off and pick up times. I never felt rushed but everything was done in time for the next bus. Would highly recommend the wine tram as a good way to visit a variety of wine estates. And we learned not to overlook the smaller wineries - Eikehof and Lynx were true standouts so don’t miss them! Also, if you’re vegetarian or vegan, Lynx is probably your best bet for food along the route.

Fantastic Day Out Even in an unexpected and out of the ordinary weather bomb , this did not fail to please . The Franschoek terminal had lots of parking , great coffee and souvenirs . Staff are super friendly . We got an Uber easily from Stellenbosch ( took 35 mins) . We took the red line and visited 4 stops in an unrushed day . We love that the cellar doors are all welcoming , spacious and not trying to sell . They let the wines speak for themselves . And they are excellent ! This is a must do for visitors to Cape Town and surrounding wine areas A lot of fun , relaxing and great memories .

A must! The Franschhoek Wine Trams offer safe, secure, and ample parking facilities, conveniently accessible for those staying in nearby bed and breakfast accommodations. Alternatively, if your B&B is within proximity, walking is a viable option, though it's advisable to remain vigilant amidst the presence of other wine-touring tourists. Situated in the scenic Western Cape Province, Franschhoek is steeped in history as one of South Africa's oldest towns, formerly known as Oliphants Hoek due to the abundance of elephants that once roamed its valleys. The staff of the Wine Trams exemplified hospitality and attentiveness throughout our experience. The tram ride itself proved to be a delightful highlight of our Cape trip. A visit to this attraction is highly recommended, offering not only an opportunity to sample exquisite wines but also to immerse oneself in the rich cultural heritage of the region. We've made a mental note to return, eager for another taste of the wines and culture, all while soaking in the breathtaking views that Franschhoek has to offer.
