Well organised day exploring some wine estates. We stayed in Franschhoek about 5 minutes walk from the ticket office. We explored the red route with their very different estates from the small family run Eikehof to Haute Cabriere and the modern Paserene. Aside from the tastings the sculpture garden in Grande Provence was well worth visiting.

A Must in Franschhoek Specifically visited Franschhoek to go on the wine tram as part of a tour around South Africa. Booked the curated wine experience and loved every minute. Simon was a great guide, very knowledgeable and made the day great fun. Learnt a lot, enjoyed many glasses of wine and had a fantastic lunch. Highly recommend the curated tour as it takes all the stress out of trying to decide which vine yards to visit and time watching for transport. Met some great people on the tour. Would love to do this again.

Franschhoek Wine Tram - Pink Line We did the pink line and I would highly recommend visiting the wine estates here and having some great food. Excellent service at all the estates that we visited. Next time I would do the orange line as it was also highly recommended. My friend enjoyed the wines. I would skip the Pigcasso estate and checkout the others - not my vibe. Our top 3 estates: Dieu Donne, Leopard's Leap and Rickety Bridge. Read the timetable bofore going (available on their website) so that you plan ahead which estates you will visit and book your tickets early, especially during peak season. We were travelling from Cape Town and we did not struggle to get an Uber coming back. You could also request your Uber using the location of your last Wine Estate if you will not be going back to the terminal. We spent the whole Saturday there and was definitely worth it.

A "must see" in Franschhoek and/or for wine lovers For us, the Wine Tram in Franschhoek was the reason why we stayed there and not in Stellenbosch. The decision was absolutely right! The Wine Tram is a very convenient way to visit many wineries and taste one or two wines there without a guilty conscience (drink driving, etc.). The staff is more than friendly. Sometimes people wait for guests who forget the time while drinking wine and then run after the bus. The section with the train is good for a souvenir photo, but otherwise rather neglectable. Most wineries are then reached by bus. Purchased wines can be handed in on the tram and then taken back with you at the "main station" at the end of the tour. A very good service! You should take a good look at the lines on offer in advance. Likewise with the wineries that are visited. We had a wonderful day and would definitely recommend the wine tram to everyone.

Very enjoyable day A really great experience and a very enjoyable way to experience a variety of the wineries at a reasonable price. We took the red route, bus first, but felt tram first might have been better. Can recommend Lynx, extremely friendly & comprehensive explanation of the tastings & very nice wine! Best views we saw were Paserene & Haute Cabrière. It’s a good idea to really plan which ones you want to stop at and when, especially if you want to time in lunch during your trip, which in some places you need to reserve in advance. The timetable can seem very confusing when you first look at it, but read it carefully and it’s not difficult to sort out the route you want. Book at least a few days in advance too to make sure you get the experience you want. Some of the bus routes are very bumpy & it’s a long day, with plenty of wine, so start small & work up or you might flag before the end, especially if it’s hot!

Perfect way to visit the Franschoek Vineyards. This was another amazing experience on the wine tram - this time the red route. The trams come past every hour, which is perfect timing to squeeze in a wine tasting at every stop. In my experience, Ubers are few and far between, particularly at the end of the day as they head back to Cape Town so I can’t recommend the wine tram enough for an enjoyable, safe trip around Franschoek. The staff were very friendly and patient, particularly towards the end of the day by which time we’d done a lot of tasting, and they made sure we got back safely to the town centre. We did the red route and covered 6 vineyards in a day, starting at 10:30am. First we took the bus to Haute Corbiere and Le Lude and then did another 3 vineyards on the bus, before finally ending up at Grand Provence, which we did on the Tram. Overall, a wonderful day which (from what I can remember) I highly recommend. PS My favourite somelliers were at Lynx and Eikehoff. Thanks guys.

Fabulously relaxing and enjoyable! Excellent couple of days out. So many choices and different lines you can easily spend 2 or 3 days enjoying the different vineyards and activities along the way! Only challenge sometimes is working out the timetable but thankfully the staff helped us with that! Excellent!
