Planning your day aboard the Franschhoek Wine Tram? We know you’ve got questions, and we’re here to make sure you have all the info you need for a smooth (and fun!) adventure. Whether you’re figuring out which line to choose, where to have lunch, or if your little ones can tag along, we’ve got you covered with these handy FAQs. Sit back, relax, and let’s get your wine tram journey sorted!

- What is the difference between Tram First and Bus First?
If you choose to start your day with the tram, your journey begins aboard the tram. If you opt to start your day with the bus, you’ll begin your journey on the bus. Regardless of your starting point, you’ll switch between the tram and bus during your journey, ensuring you experience both modes of transport over the course of your day.
2. Asking for recommendations – Where to have lunch?
For all lunch options along our lines, please refer to the list of Franschhoek Estate’s dining spots here: https://winetram.co.za/restaurants-in-franschhoek/
3. Do you have to book in advance?
We strongly advise booking in advance to avoid disappointment, especially during peak periods. Please follow this link to purchase tickets: https://franschhoekwinetram.activitar.com/products/
4. What is the cost of tickets for children? / Can we bring our newborn?
Yes! We love it when the whole family hops aboard. Children under 3 ride for free, while those aged 3 to 17 can join for just R90.
When visiting with kids, we recommend starting your day with the tram for the best experience!
5. Which line do you recommend?
We recommend all lines for first-time visitors, as the best choice depends on your personal preferences. To help us guide you to the perfect experience, please share what you’re hoping to get out of your journey – whether it’s exploring art, enjoying Cap Classique tastings, or selecting the most kid-friendly route. With this information, we can suggest the line/s that best suit your specific interests and needs.
6. Do you need to book your wine tastings at each wine estate in advance?
No need to book ahead for tastings – just come and enjoy!
7. Does the ticket include the tastings?
Your ticket gives you access to all bus and tram transfers on your chosen line for the day. Tastings and any other expenses at the estates are additional and payable directly at each estate.
8. Pet Friendly?
Unfortunately, we are not pet-friendly. However, we do accommodate guests with service animals for diagnosed conditions wherever possible.
Now that we’ve answered your burning questions, it’s time to get ready for an unforgettable day of wine, food, and stunning scenery. We can’t wait to welcome you aboard!
